Johnny Morney
In March of 2003, I was given the opportunity to work in the midst of U.S. and coalition forces during and after Gulf War II “Operation Iraqi Freedom” as a contractor/consultant with the United States Government, D.O.D. and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as our clients.
And with the world as an audience this was a defining moment for me in the role as the Southern Iraq and Kuwait Regional Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Manager for one of the world’s largest oil and gas service companies in which the sitting Vice President of the United was the former C.E.O. States and now I was a consultant to the U.S. Government and the Army Corps of Engineers.
On this billion dollar + project known as Project R.I.O. (Return Iraqi Oil) our mission was to restore the oil infrastructure, oil production, oil refining; and gas processing capability to pre-war levels throughout the country for the benefit of the Iraqi people.
And this all had to be done with the teamwork and partnerships alongside other countries with diametrically different philosophies, cultures and not to mention the language challenges.
And most importantly we desperately needed to get the buy in, support and trust of the Iraqi people.
I’m going to leave you with the foreword from my book written by my mentor and hero Les Brown
In Johnny Morney’s revolutionary new book called, Becoming A Better You – Discover the 7 Steps That Will Make The Rest Of Your Life The Best Of Your Life, he takes you on a journey of his life choices:
He takes us on a journey that reminds us of the words spoken by Ralph Waldon Emerson “what lies before us and what lies behind us is of small consequence to what is within us.” Johnny is living proof it doesn’t matter how low you’ve fallen in life, you always have the power within to pull yourself back up.
At one point in time Johnny lost his job, his marriage and his life to crack cocaine.
In a defining moment of his life, he made a choice. It was a tough choice, because it went against the grain of where he was and what he was doing at that time. It didn’t happen at a convenient time or even at a time when he could almost see light at the end of the tunnel. It required him to look on the inside, not at his current situation or circumstances and in a moment of clarity, with all the strength he could muster up, Johnny chose to transform his life from “dope addiction” to “hope on a mission”. With fierce determination driven by faith and a burning desire to reclaim his life, Johnny started all over again from nothing. Dexter Yeager once said, “no test, no testimony.” Each chapter of this book will inspire you to make your life a testimony. With brutal openness and honesty, he gives you seven steps to make the rest of your life the best of your life. Your success is just a page away, the mark of greatness is upon you. Les Brown.
